Budget Resort in Cebu
Resorts in Cebu are a great way to spend the day. Especially when trying to make the most out of another all day brownout in Bogo City.

A Couple of Days in the Life of an Expat Living In Cebu
Signs of hope in the form of a beautiful rainbow over Bogo City. Its always hard to get pictures of a rainbow. I wish I had tried a little harder as I didn’t do any manual settings on this. I was afraid it might rain on me. I was also on my walk and didn’t want to stop for a long time to keep the aerobic time up. That wasn’t very smart though, how often is it one see’s a rainbow as full or beautiful as this one was? Hopefully it wont by another 10 or 20 or maybe 40 years before I see one this nice. I’m not sure when I saw one this stunning but it has been a long time. The pictures in this article where taken during March 14th through March 16th 2009

Photos While walking in Bogo City
Captured this beautiful girl near sunset today. It is easy to sometimes forget just how pretty a girl is when you are with her every day. A fresh look at Jessie always reminds me how beautiful she is. So beautiful that it makes it hard to forget how beautiful she is!
I also captured these sunsets on that same day for my walk down to the wharf. A child was sitting on the bamboo floats added to boats to stabilize them. He started running when he saw me but the picture still turned out well, I think.

Living and Playing in Bogo City
On the seventh day of March 2009 we were invited to join a group for some BBQ and Disco. Being the first part of the month, I still had spending cash and off we went. First, we stopped at the Pizza Pub and had some sausage and beer and maybe a cigar. I enjoy sitting outside of the pub when its not too hot. I can see and socialize with the Filipino, especially the pinay (females).

They have people that like to come sit out there and not buy anything which is kind of ridiculous as that prevents paying customers from sitting there and spending their money! So they have started putting out more signs asking people not to do that.

Walking In Bogo City
This post covers the period from 03-02-09 to 03-06-09 and over 50 pictures. There are a lot of pictures during these days that I like. So this post will will be spread over several pages. The last page will contain a gallery of all the pictures in this series.
I’ve been going on longer walks, struggling to get weight off and blood sugar under control. I’ve had some success and some set backs but lots of pictures. I’ve been trying to walk two miles for at least two days and then a day off. These longer walks give me lots of time to take pictures.

Bantayan Island in Pictures
I will just go ahead and post the gallery for now of all the pictures I took during my first trip to Bantayan Island. We still have a LOT of the Island I have not seen. Jessie saw bit more of it than I did. That’s okay, I got more rest than she did.
There is an old church there that I hope to visit this month. There are some old homes. I’m a little unclear on that, I thought Jessie said built during the Spanish colony years. The church too I think. We didn’t have time to visit that last time.

Flowers of Cebu
Bogo City Flowers
During my walks last week, I stumbled upon some flowers. I always do. On this post, I decided to showcase some from my recent walks. You know, I really need a GPS. Perhaps I should just get one. But I need to ask around on what to get first and I need one that is cheap! What I really need is a GPS built into my camera.
I’m going to bet that gets added to some camera. It would be perfect for those Olympus cams that I’ve been considering since they are marketed to the active culture.

Bogo City Living in Pictures
I’m a little behind in getting my pictures posted. Always so many opportunities to take pictures, so little time to share them.
This has been a busy month for me. It started with a trip to Virgin Beach Resort. We followed that up with an overnight stay in Cebu City and finally a trip to Bantayan Island. That’s over 350 pictures taken for the month! I don’t think I’ve taken that many in a single month since my third month here when I traveled to Leyte Province.

Walking and Living in Bogo City
Living in Cebu, Philippines gives me many pictorial opportunities through just normal day life. The challenge is to see them. When you see the same things every day, it gets hard to see something new and worthy of a picture. Now I always see plenty of Filipina worthy of having their picture taken. Guys usually love to have their pictures taken, perhaps I should take more pictures of guys. I’ll make a point to do that. Filipina, often are a little harder, they often hide when I try. Sometimes pleading works though. Here is the perfect example. I took a picture of the pretty Filipina that was in this tricycle and she didn’t notice. However, the friendly driver did notice and wanted me to take his picture and I was happy to do so. I saw the opportunity for a good picture. His face would be great for black and white photography, if I knew what I was doing.
When I took his picture the girl turned her back on me. When she thought I was done, I tried to tell her I already had her picture.

Exploring The Streets of Cebu
While walking in Cebu City, I ran across this older Filipina and this picture is my favorite for the five day period.
I took her hand and held the back of it to my forehead. This ritual is called mano po and is a sign of respect. I’ve had children do this to me as I walk down the street. I pick at Jessie and ask her to give me mano po but she looks like she’s going to stick a spear in me instead. LOL
I so often take pictures of pretty young Filipina but I really like to take pictures of older people too. Their faces are so often full of character. This woman’s happy nature despite the likely hardships in her life is something that I see every day here in the Philippines. Its a part of the Philippines that is hard to get across in words. Beauty comes in many forms and there is beauty in this picture.
