I have started a new website called Bantayan Island Tours (BIT). Its just getting underway. On this site I will be reviewing various resorts and attractions and providing information on how to get there. I’ll tell you what I like and what I don’t like as well.
My most recent entry is a review of Tickety Boo Beach Resort. There are lots of pictures too. If you need help with your travel plans, let me know and I may be able to provide a service to you. I can arrange a three Island tour for up to 40 people as well.
Check the site out, leave a comment and help me get it off the ground. I have a new underwater camera that should help get some more cool pictures on my next trip. Right now, I don’t know when that will be. Probably not this month and next month I have a trip to Bangkok in the works. I may get over for a day trip next month, not too much hope for that this month though.

Hi again John!
Maybe I’ll get to meet youwhen you’re here.
I don’t have a mailing list. I might start one, problem is, people tend to forget they signed up and then complain about spam.
Rusty take a look at Bernards Beach resort on Bantayan it’s one the only resorts in the PI thts 100 % wheelchair accessible ! theres a link to it on my site !
Hi Tommy,
i wrote a story about St Bernards on my Bantayan Island site. Next time we spend the night on the island, we plan to stay there. Its a nice place even if you’re not in a chair. I’m not. If someone is though and they are going to the Island this is the only place to go. The owner is a nice guy too.
Which resorts and restaurants or cafes on the island that have free wifi?
Thank you.
Hi Connie, I’m sorry I don’t know that information.
However, Tristan’s Resort, I know will have it soon.
I was there just yesterday and we saw the guy from Globe was there to help her get her application on the fast track.
Hi Rusty, My wife is from Bantayan Island and I think its a wonderful place to live! We eventually plan to permanently live on the island. My question is how does being married to a filipino in the US affect the 59 day stay in the Phils and what are the benefits if any?
Hi Arnold,
Fro the 59 day tourist visa, it has no effect at all. You should look into a 13a visa. (Someone correct me on that if I have the wrong type).
Look under the Why I live In the Philippines button at the top of the site. Then click on the Immigration link. You can find a link to Philippine Immigration there, search for 13a and I’m sure you’ll find what your looking for. You have to prove your married and then get a resident visa. I think its almost automatic once you apply. There are some things that can disqualify you.
I obtained a 13a visa. It was a bit of a hassle, I had taken care that all my papers were in order and even got a compliment for that from the lady who does the pre-ordering because “that did not often happen” she said. But when I showed up for the final interview the guy who mainly deals with that stage of the application (I won’t mention his name) and who looked in vain for something to criticise in the documents suddenly objected to my wife not being with me “because she was the petitioner”. My wife was out of the country then so I asked whether we could come back at some other time. Since the persuasiveness of that request was reinforced by an argument that I will leave unspecified he consented to that.
When some weeks after we both showed up he was not interested in seeing us since he had already forwarded the papers to Manila.
A friend of mine went through the same procedure but stumbled in the final stage because, though he had taken care to provide documentary evidence about his financial position , he had not obtained a statement from his bank about the remittances of his pension payments from overseas.
Patience and vigilance are the name of the game there. Inform yourself about the required payments through the website of the Department of Immigration and take a copy of that with you (only as a ‘means of last resort’). And take a book with you to while away the hours…
Glad things worked out for you.
Getting a lawyer to assist you with that kind of thing might be an excellent idea.
Hey again Rusty, I am all the time reading your blogs, great source of information, thanks!
Any way, I was reading the above ( your responses to an Arnold, on the 17th of August, 2009). Where you made comment if you are married to a Pinay that you automatically qualify for a resident vise. Then you went on to say that there are things that can cause the B I to reject you. Please, can you tell me what that may be.
I ask because I am married to a Pinay that is a citizen. We have been married since Sept 26 2008.
I ask this because I have a colorful past, it has been 20 years ago but it still follows me. thank you for your time and help, Thomas
Hi Thomas,
Sorry for my late reply, I over looked your comment.
I don’t remember what those things are. Here is a link on this site that will help and at the bottom of the page there is a link for BI. http://cebuexperience.com/philippine-immigration/people-excluded-from-entering-the-philippines/
What you want to look for on the BI Site is immigrant visa. You want to look at 13a. Mostly it is geared toward felons, I think. Probably even more narrow than that. If you send an email to BI, they will answer. It may take a week or two but they answer.
