Crooks, Automatic Weapons, Grenades!
When police started following a car full of suspected robbers they had no idea what was about to happen. The thugs noticed the police and “went berserk”.
The gang reportedly opened fire with automatic weapons and grenades. Two civilians were left dead.
A car passing through was fired upon as the gang fired on everything. In the car, a man along with his seven year old daughter were killed. One police man was killed and three wounded. One policeman is in critical condition. Fifteen members of the gang were reported to have died.
Crime is high in Manila like other major cities but this type of shoot out is rare. It is likely the police were not expecting such strong resistance. It is believed two of the robbery gang got away.

If they do that a few more times it might begin to have an effect. It is a shame about the guy and his daughter. These guys don’t care who they hurt. I won’t shed a tear for any of them.
It turned out that there is a lot of uncertainty who shot the man and his child. Either way, it is sad and it lays at the feet of the robbers.
Perhaps I’m just in the Christian spirit today but I do have compassion for all those involved. The robbers have had life go terribly wrong for them. It is sad that they went down this route. They are responsible for the actions. I’m all for long jail terms but I’m also going to sorrowful that life turns out all wrong for some. Many times, people make the wrong choices. Many other times, since we don’t get to choose our parents, people never have a chance.
Unfortunately all to often the people who do these things are broken for whatever reason and usually can’t be fixed. The same is usually true for drug addicts. As sad as their situation is there isn’t much you can do for them. Rehabilitation almost always fails. .
I didn’t say rehabilitate them. I said I’m for long jail terms. I’m pretty forgiving of one mistake but when their is a second, even for drunk drivers. Slap their hand once, lock them up long term on the second offense.
Now where my liberal side comes out, my bleeding heart which I consider to be quite Christ-like, is trying to fix the problems that lead to broken people. We can’t fix everything. Some people are just evil. Usually though, we, the people of the earth make them that way. As Alice said, its a brutal planet.
I’m speaking in general terms, I’m not suggesting what the Philippines should do. That’s not my place.
Well actually they solved the problem for several of them. They certainly won’t be repeat offenders.
