Bikini Show Leads To Charges
Charges have been filed against atleast six people involved in the spicy show held on April 11th 2009 at Rommel Resort. Governor Garcia had warned before the show that bikini contest had already been banned in Cebu as they were humiliating to women.
So the owner of the bar claimed he did away with the bikinis. Instead the girls wore shorts The governor said he missed the point of the warning. Garcia went on to say “It’s not about bikini. It’s about decency. It’s about transgressing the bounds of decency,”

Bikini Contest Banned in Cebu
Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia warns that resort and business owners in Cebu Province face stiff penalties for holding bikini contest, including the loss of their privilege to operate a business in the province.
Six Priest from Northern Cebu have asked the Governor to ban bikini contest slated during Holy Week. As it turns out, there is already a law on the books that can be used to ban such events. The law has also been used to ban some beauty contest as being humiliating to women.

Holy Week, Serious In Cebu
Holy Week is taken seriously through out the Philippines. Most of my experience with it has been limited to Cebu. Last year I went up a mountain to witness three men being hung on a cross. In many cases, the men are actually hammered to the cross using nails. Last year in Cebu City they forgot the local anesthesia but the man went through with it anyway. Jessie has an uncle that did it for many years.
Jessie went to Cebu City on Sunday thinking it would be an easier trip than what it normally is but there was much more traffic. It seems lots off people are in Cebu to observe the holiest of weeks. I read a report that the bus and shipping terminals were packed with people on Friday as people prepared to leave. That would back up what Jessie found in Cebu City. She also saw three minor wrecks on her way there. Amazingly in this crazy traffic, well what looks like crazy traffic to me, there are rarely wrecks.

Fiesta, Friends, Bikini’s and a Beach in Cebu
About 15 miles north of Bogo City is a secret known as Virgin Beach Resort Cebu (VBR). Not that the management wants it to be a secret but it is more of one than he wishes I think.
The owner, known as Uncle Ron is an American but has a deep understand of the lifestyle of the Cebuano. Deeper than mine, I’m getting there but he’s been doing for a few more years than I have. He definitely has that laid back feeling about him, most often found in the older pinoy (male Filipino). I’m starting to get that more laid back approach to life as well though I don’t know if it yet shows on me.

Wow, the temperatures have fallen to around 28C\82F for highs and the wend is blowing with a gale warning issued over most of the Philippines and all the Filipina think they are turning into ice cycles and I’m in heaven!
Its a little odd that to me that I love 82 degree weather but I do. Last year when I got here the temperatures were in this range and I was extremely hot. Sweating up a storm, soaking wet every time I dared to separate myself from my PC. Looks like I got use to it but still, I can’t get Jessie to get use to it.
