How much of a problem are counterfeit medications in the Philippines? From my experience, the problem seems to be real.

Filipino have some beliefs about illness that just baffle me. Tonight our 2 year old return with the yaya (nanny) and he was sick. Jessie gave her some money and I asked if they were going out to get medication. She said yes and then added they are going to the quack doctor. In other cultures they are called shaman or witch doctor!

The Philippine Military has been mobilized to help fight a dangerous outbreak of Typhoid Fever. Army medical teams are being sent to Real and Infanta in Quezon. Two cities just north of Manila.
The Philippine Department of Health (DOH) confirmed that a stream used by the two towns is the main source of the outbreak. The DOH also advised citizens to boil their drinking water if they get it from a deep well.
