Exploring The Streets of Cebu

While walking in Cebu City, I ran across this older Filipina and this picture is my favorite for the five day period.

I took her hand and held the back of it to my forehead. This ritual is called mano po and is a sign of respect. I’ve had children do this to me as I walk down the street. I pick at Jessie and ask her to give me mano po but she looks like she’s going to stick a spear in me instead. LOL

I so often take pictures of pretty young Filipina but I really like to take pictures of older people too. Their faces are so often full of character. This woman’s happy nature despite the likely hardships in her life is something that I see every day here in the Philippines. Its a part of the Philippines that is hard to get across in words. Beauty comes in many forms and there is beauty in this picture.

Walking in Cebu 12-12-08

Walking in Bogo City 12-12-08

We took a tricycle to the post office which is located at Bogo City Hall. And then we walked back. The battery in my pedometer is dead and so far we can’t find that particular battery type, even in Cebu City. So, I don’t know how far we walked. Jessie said it was a long walk, but I don’t think it was any longer than most of our walks.

Chocolate Hills of Bogo?

My Cebu Experience took a different road, literally took a different road today.

Today I went exploring which as always makes Jessie very nervous. At one point she dared me to go forward into what looked like a foreboding area. She should know better. Once she tried to tell me a big lizard was making a noise thinking it would scare me away, instead it just peaked my interest.
